From the first test and trial licenses in 2009 to Date no regulatory framework is available for the use of the DAB broadcast spectrum and all attempts at engaging the Irish regulators to implement such much needed framework have fallen on deaf ears.

DAB+ uses less bandwidth than traditional DAB, allowing a multiplex to carry more stations, expanding listener choice. DAB+ is now used across all multiplexes in the republic of Ireland.
